Adorable Aqua baby shower ideas

Lisa GrovesBaby, Dream Theme Diaries

Hello and a happy Bank Holiday weekend to you all. It seems like there is a bit of a baby boom in my world at the moment and with our new baby shower invitations flying out the door, it may be that there is something in the air ;) If you missed the return of the ‘Dream Theme Diaries’ last month, well we relaunched these inspirational boards, kicking off with a peachy theme for a baby girl shower. Today we bring you everything pretty for throwing a shower for an expected baby boy. (Also note we have two other colour invitations available; lemon and duck egg grey, for those who prefer a more neutral colour or may not know the sex of their child).

We hope today’s mood board gives you some bright (literally) ideas for you or a loved one’s baby shower (after the beautiful Paperknots invites have been sent out of course)!

There are lots of bits and pieces you can use as alternative props to style your party area, from painted shells to spray-painted toy farmyard animals – Pinterest has some great DIY ideas that won’t break the bank. If you create things like tassels, pompoms and bunting you can keep these to use as cute decor pieces to style baby’s nursery afterwards, so definitely worth investing a little of your time on those.

Flowers add an elegant touch to your party – you don’t need to go all out on huge bouquets, just a few stems in re-used jam jars and milk bottles will pretty-up the tables and keep the room smelling fragrant. Or why not go foraging for a few leaves from the park or garden to create some eye catching decor pieces such as those lovely hanging bottles in the right hand corner, you can often find coloured bottles like these for next to nothing at boot sales or charity shops.

Another great idea for re-using something from the shower is to buy a large wooden letter and paint it in your desired colour. There are lots of these available on websites like eBay. You can have your guests leave a short ‘first message for baby’ which you can then hang on the nursery wall.

You’ll likely be wanting to treat your guests to some light refreshments and nibbles when they arrive and you can even stay on theme with these. Sweet treats and cake are ALWAYS a winner and if budget allows you could go for a scrummy ruffled ombre cake to get that perfect matching colour with your buttercream or icing. Or how about making some simple treats yourself?.  We love the rice krispy cakes on sticks – you can make them bespoke to your colour scheme simply by dipping them in icing and then adding some wool or twine to the sticks for an extra pop colour. Likewise how delicious looking are those iced buns in mugs, with super cute pompoms added to tie in your colour theme?

To kick start your baby shower take a look at the box set invitations available in the shop – you’ll find the aqua option featured above along with the other colours we mentioned too.

Happy shower planning and enjoy the countdown to that very special time!
