February 9th – well isn’t this year is flying by?! It’s been an incredibly busy start to 2015 for Paperknots and the enquiries keep on coming. I have to say though, that whilst it was already looking to be a busy month, something happened in the middle of January that sent my web traffic, social media interactions and wedding enquiries crazy. What was the mysterious catalyst? Well, it may have something to do with January 15th which was the night that Paperknots WON BEST WEDDING STATIONERY at The Wedding Industry Awards 2015! Here’s me looking rather pleased with myself in the press area!
I’m still smiling just as much now. It’s such a great achievement and I feel incredibly proud to have won such a prestigious award, especially given the extremely high standard of finalists in my category. And to think I almost didn’t enter as I wasn’t sure I was ready – it wasn’t until two of my brides nominated me and emailed me with the loveliest words of encouragement and praise that I stepped back and thought ‘perhaps now is my time’. I cannot thank them enough for giving me the confidence to go for it! Plus maybe a few positive words in my ear from my ever-supportive boyfriend, Chris.

One of the main reasons this award means so much is because of the way the winners are chosen. The votes for each entrant come from the past year of clients, along with a panel of judges made up of market leaders – that is extremely important to me, as it is not about popularity but a genuine recognition of great work and customer service. I’m very fortunate to love what I do but knowing that others love what I do too makes me a very proud winner!

Speaking of which, I want to take this opportunity to share with you some of the feedback comments I got from those clients who voted. There were so many amazing comments but so that this doesn’t become a VERY long blog post I have selected a few favourties. I could probably cry (again) with happiness reading these right now:
“Lisa at paperknots is nothing short of a stationery wizard. From the initial consultation where I revealed my brief (funfair wedding) to the delivery of the bespoke table plan to the venue & tying the 120 lanyards to the fairylit board, Lisa came up with the most fantastic ideas & delivered exceptional & exciting results. I received photos from guests on the day the invites arrived saying they’d felt like they’d received their own gift! 500 words isn’t enough to describe the paperknots service!!”
“Lisa’s quality of service, friendliness, expertise and fabulously creative approach absolutely astounded us! Her attention to detail and her talent for creating fabulous bespoke stationery knows no bounds. We have recommended Paperknots to countless friends with impending nuptials, and this is all down to the faultless service that we received. We lost count of the number of comments we received about all of our stationery and we feel so lucky to have found Lisa to create it all for us.”
“I have nothing but brilliant things to say about Lisa and Paperknots. I found it difficult to find stationery that suited my barn-style venue, but the minute I found Paperknots, I knew Lisa would be able to bring to life my vision. The quality of the design and material was amazing. Lisa was also always there when I had a question – and was always willing to help where possible. I would recommend Lisa to absolutely anyone who is getting married!”
“Lisa at Paperknots went out of her way to create a beautiful selection of stationery, including extra bespoke items we asked for on request. She even accommodated a very last minute request from my now husband to orchestrate a surprise for me, designing and printing the lyrics to Sweet Caroline on song sheets so that the congregation could break out in song without me knowing a thing! Lisa went over and above to create anything and everything we asked for. She provided excellent advice too.”
“Lisa from Paperknots was fabulous from start to finish. Organised, quick delivery and so helpful! Could not have asked for a greater person to do our stationery. She adapted to us as a couple and took our needs into consideration and receiving the stationery was so fun. Wrapped perfectly and the finished products were beyond amazing, even better than I could imagine and I love stationery and high standards myself!”
“Lisa was a delight to work with. Her designs were original and fun, and she seemed to know exactly what we wanted. She accepted all my requests and bridezilla demands with grace – including when I realised I’d made a huge error on the order of services on the morning they were going to press. I would recommend her to anyone getting married!”
“Lisa was my preferred wedding supplier. Of all the people I dealt with she was the most pleasant, professional and dedicated. She always did what she said and never let me down. I was delighted with the beautiful stationery she created and genuinely wished I had other stationery needs just to have reason to use her services and see what other beautiful things she could create. I can’t imagine a better experience with any other stationery supplier.”
“Lisa was absolutely excellent throughout the whole process! I was pretty clueless going into my invitation search as I had not yet set a theme as such. Once I saw Lisa’s midsummer dream invite I knew they were the ones I HAD to have! These invitations set the whole colour scheme for the wedding, and they were more than perfect. I was inundated with compliments from those who received the invites, they were a big hit! I have recommended Lisa to so many people, she’s excellent at what she does:-)”
“Lisa was absolutely wonderful to work with, and was very accommodating with any design or wording changes I had during the process. She really knows how to “go with the flow” —an extremely important trait to have when working with stressed out brides! My family and friends raved about my invitation packages. I would happily refer anyone to utilize Lisa for future stationery needs!”
“Lisa really took the time to understand my wedding theme. Her attention to detail was amazing and she managed to understand what I wanted better than I did! It was wonderful to see what I was imagining in my head come to life in her designs. It was beautiful and really excellent value for money when I think of the amount of work she put in.”
And that really is just a selection – they’ve blown me away as much as winning the award itself, what truly lovely people I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I really do love my job!
And speaking of nice people and loving my job, here are a few photos from the award evening held at Café de Paris
